Traditional Clothing

 



Traditional Tunisian clothing is designed to have many layers of thin cotton, to protect wearers from the hot desert sun, but also help them keep cool. Mens' ceremonial clothing, called 'jebba', is worn at weddings and other important celebrations. 


Traditional womens' clothing is different in different parts of Tunisia. It often features embroidery, jewelry, necklaces, and scarves.

A popular condiment and ingredient which is used extensively in Tunisian cooking,  harissa , is a mix of ground  chili peppers , garlic, and  caraway  or spices commonly sold together as a paste.
